About these terms
These terms apply to Gas Engineer App, including gasengineerapp.co.uk, the web app at app.gasengineerapp.co.uk and our iOS and Android apps (together, the Service). The Service is provided by Engineer App Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16446476 (we, us).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. The Service is designed for gas engineers and heating businesses. If you use it on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that business.
How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 and give accurate registration details, including your business and Gas Safe registration details where requested.
- Keep your login details secure. You are responsible for all activity on your account, including activity by engineers you invite.
- Tell us straight away at info@gasengineerapp.co.uk if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
- Each login is for one person. Do not share login details between engineers.
Free trial
New accounts get a 90-day free trial with full access to the Service. No card details are needed to start. At the end of the trial you need to choose a paid subscription to keep creating certificates, quotes and invoices. If you do not subscribe, your data is handled as described in Your data.
We offer one free trial per business. We may end a trial early if we reasonably believe it is being misused.
Subscriptions and payment
- Subscriptions are billed monthly or yearly in advance at the price shown when you subscribe. Current prices are listed on our website and in the app.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
- Payments made on our website or web app are processed by our payment providers, such as Stripe or GoCardless. We do not store your card details.
- Subscriptions bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed by Apple or Google and are also subject to their terms.
- We will give you at least 30 days' notice before a price change applies to your subscription. You can cancel before the new price takes effect.
- If a payment fails, we may suspend access to create new records until payment is made. You will still be able to view your existing records during this time.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel at any time from Settings › Subscription, or through your Apple or Google account for app store subscriptions. There is no minimum contract.
When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund part-used billing periods, except where the law requires us to. Refunds for app store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.
Your responsibilities as an engineer
The Service gives you forms, tools and storage to record your work. It does not inspect appliances, check your readings or confirm that work is safe. You remain responsible for:
- holding a valid Gas Safe registration, with the right competencies, for any gas work you record;
- carrying out all work in line with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, manufacturers' instructions and current industry standards;
- the accuracy and completeness of every certificate, record, reading, notice and document you create, sign or send;
- issuing warning notices and taking the correct action when you find unsafe or at-risk appliances;
- giving copies of records to landlords, customers and others where the law requires it.
Certificate layouts are designed to follow common industry formats. It is your responsibility to check a record meets the requirements that apply to the job before you issue it.
Calculators, manuals and AI assistance
- Calculators. The gas rate calculator and other tools use standard formulas and default values, such as a calorific value of 39.5 MJ/m³ for natural gas. Results depend on what you enter. Always compare them with the appliance data plate and manufacturer's instructions.
- Boiler manuals. Manuals and parts documents are published by third parties and provided for reference. They may not be the latest version. Check with the manufacturer where it matters.
- AI assistance. Suggestions, drafts and answers from AI features can be wrong or incomplete. Check them before you rely on them, and never use them in place of your own professional judgement.
Your data
The customer, job, certificate, photo and invoice data you add to the Service (Customer Data) belongs to you. You give us permission to host, copy, back up and process it only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service.
You are responsible for having a lawful basis to store your customers' personal data and for giving them any privacy information the law requires.
You can export your data where the Service offers this. Customer Data may be permanently deleted 60 days after you stop paying for the Service, or earlier if you ask. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis. Please export anything you need to keep before then.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- create false, misleading or backdated certificates or records;
- issue records for work you did not carry out or are not competent to carry out;
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to send spam or harassing messages through reminders;
- copy, resell or redistribute boiler manuals or other content from the Service;
- try to access other users' data, break our security, or reverse engineer the Service;
- upload viruses or anything designed to damage or disrupt the Service.
Availability and changes to the Service
We work to keep the Service available and reliable, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. You can keep working offline in the app. Records sync when your device reconnects, so keep the app open until syncing has finished.
We may carry out maintenance and update, add or remove features. If we remove a feature you pay for in a way that significantly affects you, we will tell you in advance and you can cancel.
Intellectual property
We own the Service, including its software, design, certificate templates and the Gas Engineer App name and logo. We give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your business while your account is active.
You keep ownership of your logo and business branding. You allow us to display it on the documents you create through the Service.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Subject to that:
- we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss;
- we are not liable for losses caused by inaccurate or incomplete information entered into the Service, or by work you carried out;
- our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the subscription fees you paid us in that period.
Suspension and closing your account
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account if payment is not made, if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, or if we must do so by law. Where it is reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to export your data first.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will tell you about significant changes by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, the updated terms apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
